Maytown Donates Clothes to Children in Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica
December 7, 2017
MAYTOWN—Two sisters from the Daughters of Divine Love — Sisters Lilian and Mary Paul — helped women of St. Patrick Parish, here, pack four suitcases of clothing for their missions in Cuba, Haiti and Jamaica.

The clothes are part of the parish’s ongoing sewing project to clothe needy children. So far parish volunteers and their friends have made 3,848 dresses for girls and hundreds of britches for boys.

The project began in 2011 and continues to grow. Friends from Sublette, Rock Falls, Sterling, Tiskilwa, Ohio, LaMoille, Amboy, Mendota and Downers Grove have helped.

The women of Maytown welcome additional helpers.

All fabric and sewing notions for the project have been donated to the sewers.  Additional volunteers and contributions are welcome to continue the clothing project.
