ROCKFORD—Festa Italiana, the longest running festival in Rockford, celebrated its 40th year Aug. 3-5 on the grounds of Boylan Central Catholic High School, here.

Both new features and a line-up of favorite foods and attractions marked the anniversary event.

New this year was a craft beer tasting  with several local breweries and beer vendors providing samples. Beer tasters also received a souvenir glass.

A craft and vendor market featured local businesses and artisans.

And Festa-goers could also research their Italian family history on site with Steve Salvato, a local genealogist. An “Our Family Heritage Book” sale, and Holy Name Society, Legion of Mary, and sister city displays were also featured in the cultural tent.

Representatives from Midway Village Museum were at Festa with their Traveling Trunk, which included artifacts and games from all over the world.
