St. Charles Parishes Gather to Feed Needy
June 20, 2019
Over 600 volunteers from the two St. Charles parishes — St. John Neumann and St. Patrick — joined together to pack 132,192 meals for people who have little or no food and are in jeopardy of starving in Third World countries.

The event was organized by the St. Charles Knights of Columbus Council 12497 and the St Charles Ladies Auxiliary and coordinated through the Feed My Starving Children organization.

The 2019 packing event was the second Mercy for the Starving event held in St. Charles.

The two packing events have produced over 250,000 meals that have been sent to feed starving individuals. This year’s food packets were sent to Haiti.

The activity, which took place over two days before Lent, relied on teenagers and their parents the first night, followed by three packing sessions the second day for adults and children of all ages.

Volunteers helped with everything from set-up to packing the  loaded boxes into a semi-trailer.
