Holy Angels School Holds Drive-Up Donation
May 14, 2020
AURORA—“In dire need” was how an official described the food pantry at Holy Angels Parish in Aurora recently.

On April 30 and May 1, community donors rallied to restock the pantry with dried pasta and sauces, paper products, diapers and other essentials during a drive-up food-collection campaign.

Teachers and other volunteers collected donations handed through car windows to maintain social distancing. Signs welcoming donors included a multi-colored  “Hunger Heroes” banner plus handmade signs that read “Missing our peeps,” “Sending you an air hug,” and “We miss you.”

A “pull forward slowly” sign was intended to allow teachers  time to look in car windows, wave and talk to students said Sheridan Gurbal, school tech coordinator who helped organize the event.
