ROCKFORD—In an already record-breaking year for Catholic Press Association honors, The Observer has earned one more.

 

“Making Room for God” by Amanda Hudson, news editor, received third place honors in the Best Feature Writing category for weekly diocesan newspapers with circulations up to 25,000.

 

The story explained Exodus 90, designed as a “boot camp” to help men deepen their faith. Some women have also taken the challenge. 

 

The judge wrote, “This is a fun article. Nice to personalize the clergy and show them preparing for their work in fellowship with others. A well-written story, engaging, and inspiring. Great work!”

 

The announcement was delayed because of the omission of several awards in the list prepared by the CPA for its annual awards issue of The Catholic Journalist. It brings the diocesan total to 18.
