 AURORA -- Tutor training Jan. 20 
The Dominican Literacy Center*, 260 Vermont St. (behind St. Therese of Jesus Parish), will hold tutor training for female volunteers with at least a high school diploma. Training will be Jan. 20, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., along with online videos. Tutors will start the next week and help women read, write and speak English during weekly 90-minute sessions. Tutors do not need to speak Spanish or have teaching experience. *Note: The DLC is not accessible to those with limited mobility. 
 
Waterleaf ‘Evening of Hope’ gala Feb. 3
Waterleaf Women’s Center will hold its “Evening of Hope” gala Feb. 3, 6-10 p.m., at Glen Ellyn’s Abbington Distinctive Banquets, 3S002 Route 53 (corner of Rte. 53 and Butterfield Rd.). Holy Cross Parish began its spring Alpha course for young adults on Jan. 16. Polish dinner Jan. 27
The Knights of Columbus Council #3880 at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish will hold a Polish dinner Jan. 27, starting at 6 p.m., at the Oak St. Church community room, Rte. 176 and Oak St. The meal will include beef barley mushroom soup, roast pork, Polish sausage, pierogi and bigos. Desserts of kolaczki and raspberry nalesnik will also be served. Cost: $25/adult, $10/child. Tickets on sale after most Sunday Masses through Jan. 21.

Baby supply drives start Jan. 27
The Cathedral of St. Peter and All Saints Catholic Academy will hold “Baby Love” donation drives to gather baby supplies (diapers, wipes and Desitin) for the St. Elizabeth Catholic Community Center. Healing Masses Feb. 10-11
St. Anthony of Padua Parish will offer healing Masses Feb. 10 (4:30 p.m.) and Feb. 11 (8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.) at the church, 1010 Ferguson St. The Masses, held in conjunction with World Day of the Sick on Feb. 11, will offer the sacrament of anointing of the sick afterward.

Fox Valley women’s Bible study starts Feb. 1
The Fox Valley Catholic Bible Study for Women will start studies on Feb. 1, 9 a.m., at St. John Neumann Parish, 2900 E. Main St. Meetings will continue Thursdays at the same time. Will study “The Holy Spirit in the Bible” (George M. Smiga) through March 14 and “Easter, Season of Realized Hope” (Catherine Upchurch) from April 11-25. Zoom-only option offered.
