Knights Award Benefits Bishop Lane Retreat Center
April 11, 2024
DIOCESE—On April 8, Bishop of Rockford David Malloy, center, was gifted with a $500 check from the Illinois Knights of Columbus. The check was presented by Mark Halper, Rockford Diocese KC Chairman, and Ken Basel, far right, Assistant General Agent (Kehoe Agency) for the Knights.

The money was a special award from the State KCs to honor the effective membership recruiting efforts of the 68 councils of the diocese this past year. The award was given to the bishop to be gifted by him to his charity of choice.

He selected Bishop Lane Retreat Center whose director, Edith Navarro, far left, plans to use it for bed sheets and comforters at the retreat center. The picture shows a patio at the main retreat center’s first floor.

Bishop Lane Retreat Center was dedicated by Bishop Loras Lane on Oct. 22, 1966. It has undergone renovations and building projects since then and continues to serve those seeking a place of respite and prayer.
