Mens Conference Scheduled Nov. 22
October 24, 2014

DEKALB—An opportunity to restore a sense of hope and peace in an often chaotic world is just one of the promises of the 20th annual Great Lakes Catholic Men’s Conference, slated Nov. 22.

Speakers at this year’s conference include evangelist and theologian Father Robert Barron; country singer and disability advocate Collin Raye; former mobster turned evangelist John Pridmore; and pro-life advocate Eric Scheidler.

The master of ceremonies will be Wayne Messmer, often referred to as “The guy who sings the (National) Anthem” for Chicago’s sports teams.

Besides speakers, the program includes music, social and reflective time. It is open to married, single and divorced men including fathers, teenage sons, and grandfathers, whatever their level of faith, or whatever their faith belief.

Cost $35 before Nov. 4, $40 after and $45 at the door for adult men; $15 for college students or younger; and $10 for deacons. Lunch and parking included.

No one will be turned away because of an inability to pay, conference organizers say.

Many diocesan parishes have tickets for sale.

The conference will be held at the Holmes Student Center of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Doors open and music begins at 8 a.m., with the formal program going from 8:50 a.m. to 4 p.m.
