CRYSTAL LAKE—Father Joseph Ekpo, assistant pastor at St. Simeon Parish in Bellwood, is the scheduled speaker for the May 9 Magnificat Prayer Breakfast, here.

Known as ‘Father Joe,’ he hails from southeastern Nigeria. Although he was from a large and loving family, his childhood was difficult due to the civil wars that plagued his country.

After his ordination, he became the secretary to Cardinal  Dominic Ekandem. He has been in the USA since 1991, studying and teaching.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for the breakfast at the Holiday Inn Crystal Lake, 800 South Rt. 31.
