Undamaged After Monday Tornadoes
June 26, 2015

DIOCESE—From north to south, tornadoes caused damage in areas of the Rockford Diocese June 22.

Again parish churches were spared, although, as of press time Tuesday, there were reports of other structural damage in towns from Menominee in far northwest Jo Daviess County to Sublette in far south central Lee County.

Father Randy Fronek, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Sublette, said Woodhaven (four miles northwest of Sublette) was hit hardest and the worst damage appears to have been at a campground.

More people would have been there if it were the weekend, he said, but not that many stay through the week.

He said some area volunteer firefighters were told their help wasn’t needed at the campgrounds.

A parish employee who lives near Woodhaven was fine, Father Fronek said.

He said he heard that Dixon got a lot of rain and Woodhaven got the winds.
