DEKALB—The longest running Catholic men’s conference in the country will celebrate its 26th year on Nov. 20 at the Holmes Student Center at Northern lllinois University. The annual Great Lakes Catholic Men’s Conference promises to be a day full of inspiration and hope for close to a thousand men.

This year’s conference takes its theme from Jesus’ words to the Apostles ”Be not afraid!”

Speakers this year include Super Bowl Champion Matt Birk; popular priest and author Father Larry Richards; Catholic apologist Karlo Broussard; and former NFL Player Kevin O’Brien. Cubs National Anthem singer, Wayne Messmer, will serve as the emcee for the day.

Besides speakers, the program includes music, reflection time, Mass, and lunch. It is open to married, single and divorced men including fathers, teenage sons, and grandfathers, whatever their level of faith.
Doors open and music begins at 8 a.m. and the formal program starts at 8:50 a.m.

The cost of the Conference is $50, $55 at the door, $15 for college students or younger, $5 for deacons, and lunch and parking are included. Conference officials say no one will be turned away because of an inability to pay.

Many area Catholic parishes have tickets for sale. Credit card registration is available on line.
