New Space, New Look for Catholic TV Mass
September 8, 2022
ROCKFORD—The Catholic TV Mass, seen each Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. on NBC affiliate WREX Channel 13, has a different, more prayerful look thanks to its new home. The Mass is now being broadcast from the Immaculate Conception Chapel in the Diocesan Administration Center in Rockford.

Due to a change in programming schedules at the WREX station, the organizers needed to find a better time and space to record the Mass for those confined to their homes or nursing facilities. So, the Mass was moved from the station to the administration center chapel in August.

The Catholic TV Mass has been produced by the Diocese of Rockford and broadcast on WREX since January 23, 1966. Regular priest celebrants for the Catholic Mass are Fathers Aaron Downing, Jack Reichardt and Akan Simon.

The Mass is produced by the Office of Communication and Publications.

Not pictured is Sheila Antosch, a regular sign language interpreter for the Mass. The Catholic Mass can also be viewed on the Diocese of Rockford YouTube Channel.
