Giving Thanks with And for Prayer

Diocesan ministries would not be available to parishes and parishioners without the support of thousands of people each year.

“Here at the Diocese of Rockford we want to give thanks to all those who contributed to our annual appeal, whether that be through donations or through prayer,” said Claudia Broman, director of charitable giving at the diocese.

Diocesan donors are invited to a special Mass of Thanksgiving on Wednesday, March 6 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rita Parish in Rockford.  The purpose of the Mass is to say thank you to all the people who helped make the 2023 Diocesan Appeal a success.

Each year the financial donations made toward the Diocesan Appeal help fund the work of the diocese through its parishes, schools, and ministries.

“Along with donations, this year nearly 2,800 prayer intention requests were received here at the diocese from donors. It is such a blessing for us here to pray for all these people from all corners of our diocese,” Broman said.

Prayer intentions are placed before the altar in the chapel at the Diocesan Administration Center.  The petitions are offered up in prayer at each Mass said in the chapel, usually every day.

The Mass of Thanksgiving is open to the public. For more information about the Mass or annual appeal call the Office of Charitable Giving at 815-399-4300
