DIOCESE—The next few months bring many events calling pro-lifers in the Rockford Diocese to pray and help shape a culture that respects the dignity of every life.

-- 40 Days for Life: This prayer vigil begins on Feb. 14, Ash Wednesday, at two locations in Rockford and Aurora.

The Rockford Family Initiative’s campaign will run through March 24, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., on the sidewalk at the abortuary at 611 Auburn St., Rockford. There is public parking on the side streets around this location. To sign up to pray, contact Kevin Rilott at 815-494-0444 or [email protected].

In Aurora, this vigil will run through March 23, 7 am-7 pm, Monday thru Saturday, across from the Planned Parenthood at 3051 E. New York St. Contact Beth Doroff at [email protected] or the Aurora leader Philip Price at [email protected].

-- 40 Days for Life kick-off rally and prayer: St. Bernadette Parish will host a rally on Feb. 13, 7 p.m., in the church, 2400 Bell Ave. Steve Karlen, campaign director, will speak on the movement. His roles in the 40 Days for Life campaign include training and assisting local campaign leaders and co-hosting the 40 Days for Life podcast.

Updates will be given on the status of the abortion facilities at Auburn St. and at Maray Dr.

Free rally signs, reading, bumper stickers and more will be available, along with many “Fat Tuesday” treats.

-- Illinois March for Life: The March 13 registration deadline for the diocesan bus trip to the April 17 Illinois March for Life is coming up soon. The day will include round-trip transportation to Springfield; a Mass, rally and adoration; and the march. Snacks and water provided. There will be a stop for dinner afterward. Cost: $80.

Space is limited. Spots will be filled in the order that forms and payments are received.
